Huntmaster; What is That?

Huntmaster is a coined word that identifies folks that lead or help lead a Youth Hunt sponsored by the Texas Youth Hunting Program.  A Huntmaster has a long list of duties.

Huntmasters help in finding a land owner willing to let a half dozen youth come hunt on their property for the weekend.

Huntmasters put the team together to support the hunt for the weekend.  Typical team consist of a cook, rifle range instructor, guide coordinator and skills trail leader that also does hunters education.

Huntmasters meet the land owner at the ranch, hopefully with his team, to go over the land owner checklist that helps to determine what is needed to have a safe, successful hunt for the weekend.

Huntmasters post the hunt information on the official website:

Huntmasters contact the youth after they have gone online and registered and start the dialog of Who, What, When, Where and How.

Huntmasters role is to provide a safe, legal, ethical, educational, meaningful, memorable and fun weekend that teaches the youth and their parents/guardians how to hunt and enjoy the great outdoors.

Huntmasters will show genuine love and concern for the youth and adults.

This is a snap shot and I will go into more detail in future post.  Stay tuned.
